About us

The League of Friends of the City Hospital remains separate from the QMC, operating as an independent charity for the benefit of the City Hospital.  The League is run by volunteers – all of the money raised and donated is used entirely for the benefit of the City Hospital.

Meetings and Events

6336-6336NUH LONG SERVICE AWARDS 2016
We were delighted to be part-sponsoring this event, held on 1st July 2016, in recognition of the remarkable contribution of staff who have worked for Nottingham’s hospitals for 25 years or more.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS are held on alternate months, when donations received and requests made for support are discussed, as well as fund-raising and other activity.

THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING was held on Tuesday 11th October 2016 beginning at 7 pm in Sherwood Hall at the City Hospital. There were the usual annual reports, including resignations and re-elections to the committee. In addition to League of Friends members, we were joined by NUH Chair Louise Scull, Chief Executive Dr Peter Homa, Head of Voluntary Services Kerry Harper, Friends from QMC and other Leagues and Departments. We were privileged to be brought up to date with NUH business by Dr Peter Homa, and were inspired by our guest speaker, Louise Scull who talked to us about her work as Chair, and her activities in sailing. All in all we had a successful meeting which, followed by light refreshments, made for an enjoyable evening.

The LACE MARKET THEATRE event will be held on Tuesday 23rd May 2017. The performance is The Perfect Murder by Peter James, a wonderfully funny thriller where a husband and wife secretly try to kill each other. With twist after twist, who will succeed and claim the insurance and who will not? Tickets for this event are £12 each and can be obtained from Carole Brown on 0115 9261299 or by email carole100brown@btinerrnet.com.

This year the ANNUAL CONCERT will be held on Saturday 28th October 2017, a little earlier in the year than usual but we look forward to another varied performance of music and prose from the BLUECOAT CHOIR. More information to follow.
